Brady money for parades

POSTED: Tuesday, June 1, 2010, 5:45 PM

Congressman Bob Brady on Wednesday will announce a "preliminary round of funding" for his "Greater Philadelphia Traditions Fund," a nonprofit he helped create that will give money to the Mummers and other groups to pay for costs imposed by the city. Brady's advisory on the press conference on the funding contained few details. His fundraising efforts were driven by a Nutter administration policy of charging parade and festival organizers for police overtime and other costs associated with their events.

Thanks Bob...the mayor wants to lay off police and firemen because he didn't get his way with the budget, we have an incompetent school superintendent and god knows what else...but thank you Bob for the parades...

Where is this guy's head? He is worried about parades, while people are dying in the streets from lack of good policing. A Mayor who wants to layoff our services? Hey Bobby, while they are strutting up Broad St., put brooms in their hands.

Let me understand... You slam the man because he saw a need and tried to help? Do you realize that sometimes certain funds can only be spent on certain things? The City's parades, cultural events, and other amenities are what help to also bring more revenue and tourism into town. Brady has steped up for many other things as he sees a need. Give the guy a break.
