Allentown on Board With Philly on Gun Law

, Allentown's city council unanimously approved a law yesterday that would require gun owners to report lost or stolen firearms. The bill was modeled on similar legislation in Philadelphia, which has been challenged by the National Rifle Association (and is likely headed for the state Supreme Court).

''Violence plagues all our cities across Pennsylvania and the use of lost and stolen weapons has been linked back to many of the crimes,'' Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski told council, according to the Morning Call.

Mayor Nutter is trying to enlist his counterparts in cities across the commonwealth in his gun control campaign. He's got a long, long way to go convince Harrisburg that stiffer gun laws are needed.
