9 of 17 Council members listen to results of budget forums

More than half of City Council has shown up to hear the results, so to speak, of the public feedback the city received at the four community budget workshops that wrapped up about two weeks ago.

Mayor Nutter a short time ago kicked off another PhillyStat meeting in which the organizers of the workshops - Harris Sokoloff and Chris Satullo of the Penn Project for Civic Engagement - are discussing their findings. (The meeting is scheduled to last until 5 p.m.) The bottom line: Residents are open to the idea of raising taxes if it means not cutting services.

In just 15 days, Nutter will deliver his 2010 budget to Council.

According to Inquirer staff writer Patrick Kerkstra, there to hear the news in person was Council President Anna Verna; Jannie Blackwell; Bill Green; W. Wilson Goode Jr.; Donna Reed Miller; Maria Quinones Sanchez; Blondell Reynolds Brown; Brian O'Neill; and Joan Krawjewski.
