Beginning Monday, July 7, single-stream recycling will finally be available citywide, fulfilling one of Mayor Nutter's campaign pledges. Single-stream recycling - i.e., putting all recylables into a single bin instead of sorting them by type - is easier and thus thought to increase the recycling rate. That's good news, since Philadelphia has long had one of the most dismal recyling rates in the country.
