Desiree Peterkin Bell will be Philadelphia’s new Director of Communications and Strategic Partnerships, Mayor Nutter said Thursday.
Bell, who had served in the same position for Newark Mayor Corey A. Booker, will be responsible for the long-term planning and oversight of Nutter’s communications strategy and will work closely with the mayor and top administration officials as a senior advisor. - Miriam Hill

Given his mediocre performance, he's going to need an overpaid communications director. btruth

Hey, Zero, the lady is a National Urban Fellows Scholar (Swarthmore). Has a Master's in Public Administration and Public Policy, as well as a double-major BA - Political Science and Education. What's your creds? fpitz
@Fpitz, All that education and what was the result? All he needed for his term was his english class, all he says is "We have no money" and "We can't afford that" and "We'll have to lay off police officers" and "We'll have to close fireshouses" What did he apply all that big education to. By the way, I only have an BS and realize that he has done nothing for this city but complain. Beside the 311 system which is useless, what has he done? pbphila
From a former Cory Booker fan and donor "She was Bookers PR person for his first term so she is used to spinning lackluster performances into Herculean successes". Seems like Nutter Butter isn't working like the policy wonk handbook said it would. Don't know if there are enough non home team voters in Phl to affect any changes, but we should pressure Nutter to stand up and get rid of Carl Green, Arlene Ackerman and maybe a few city council freeloaders and DROP participants. Save enough money to net out his new PR flak. axxell
Nutter is a disaster. Kaiser Sosa
