Healthy family recipe: Apple crisp

Apple season is upon us! This recipes uses less sugar without sacrificing too much flavor.

Apple season is upon us! One of my favorite things to make in the fall is apple crisp. I put a little twist on mine by using quick-cooking steel cut oats. With steel cut oats, the crisp's texture will be chewier than regular oats. You can use regular oats as well. I like a lot of topping so I doubled it from the original recipe. I also cut down on the white sugar used on the apples and a small amount of the brown sugar in the topping.
