Hawks announce non-conference schedule

St. Joseph’s has announced its non-conference men’s basketball schedule and among the highlights will be the appearance one of college basketball’s top players, Creighton’s Doug McDermott.

That will be the Hawks third game of the season on Saturday, Nov. 16 at Hagan Arena. It will be the second time McDermott has played in Hagan Arena, having also done so as a sophomore.

Last season St. Joseph’s visited Creighton.

The Hawks will play three Philadelphia schoolsl in December. St. Joseph’s hosts Villanova on Dec. 7 and Drexel on Dec. 18.

The Hawks will also visit Temple on Dec. 4.

St. Joseph’s will begin its 16-game Atlantic-10 schedule following a Jan 4 home game against the University of Denver.

After that game with Denver, St. Joseph’s will have just one non-league matchup, Jan. 18 at the Palestra against Penn.

The season will kick off with a Nov. 9 game at Vermont. As announced earlier, St. Joseph’s will compete in the Old Spice Classic in Orlando, opening with LSU on Thanksgiving, Nov. 28.
