St. Joseph’s junior forward Halil Kanacevic will miss the Hawks next few games due to a death in the family.

Kanacevic’s maternal uncle passed away this week and he is accompanying his parents to their homeland of Montenegro.

It is believed that he could return after two games. The Hawks play Saturday at Duquesne and Thursday at VCU.

The 6-foot-8 Kanacevic is averaging 7.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists. He missed a game earlier this season against American University due to a back injury and also served a two-game team suspension for unsportsmanlike conduct during the Hawks loss at Villanova.

Since returning from his suspension, Kanacevic has been coming off the bench.  He has struggled upon his return from the Villanova game. In the three games since his return, Kanacevic has scored a total of 14 points and shot 5 for 20 from the field.
