The Sartorialist and Garance Dore are coming to town

Scott Schuman of The Sartorialist is bringing his stylish appetite to town alongside his tres chic lady-friend and blogger/photographer Garance Dore.

If there's a day you should dress your best, Philadelphia, it's Saturday. Here's why:

Scott Schuman of The Sartorialist is bringing his stylish appetite to town alongside his tres chic lady-friend and blogger/photographer Garance Dore.

The king of street style will sign copies of his new book The Sartorialist: Closer at the Barnes Foundation on October 13 from 5-7 p.m. His latest book will include photos of people captured on the streets of Tokyo, Seoul, London, Milan, New York, Paris and more.

Skai Blue Media's Rakia Reynolds is responsible for bringing Schuman and Dore to our city. Reynolds continues to place Philadelphia on the cultural map by bringing creative folk to our city for appearances, panels and more. We take a look at their accomplishments and contributions to fashion below.

What began with a camera lens in New York City for Schuman eventually turned into an immensely popular street style blog. His site is updated daily with images of fashionable randos (and fixtures) meandering the streets of Manhattan, Milan, London, and elsewhere. With fashion types worldwide citing inspiration from Schuman's work, Penguin went on to publish an anthology of his images in 2009. It has since sold over 100,000 copies.

Both Dore and Schuman are revered for capturing singular street style images encapsulating the look and feel of a given location or specific lifestyle. Despite his influence on fashion on a global scale, Schuman finds fashion in atypical places. For example, one of our favorite sequences from The Sartorialist was shot down in Savannah, Georgia several years ago. The serene, quality images produced by Schuman captured the beauty and rhythm of life down South.

In addition to running The Sartorialist, Schuman also works alongside major fashion brands. Perhaps one of his greatest recent collaborative works was with Burberry for the iconic British brand's "Art of the Trench" social media campaign. He's also previously modeled for brands like Gap.

Schuman's girlfriend Garance Dore- whose foray into fashion began in 2006 while she was living in Marseilles, France- also experiences equal fame in the blogosphere. Dore was honored by the CFDA in 2012 for her media work achieved through her colorful and quirky photo blog. She continues to curate her site, in addition to consulting for various lifestyle brands. Her most recent project involved designing a special capsule line for Kate Spade New York.
