Gladwyne-raised Jenna Leigh Blatstein, the designer-daughter of local real estate developer Bart Blatstein, is set to open her first stand-alone boutique at Revel resort and casino in Atlantic City this summer.
"I chose Revel because it is close to 'home' for me," she tells us. "I grew up going down the shore every summer, so it's very exciting to open my very first store at the Jersey Shore."
The boutique will offer the latest pieces from the 25-year old's eponymous collection, which launched May 2009. The line has seen a number of successes since its debut: Kim Kardashian wore one of her pieces on the September 2010 cover of Allure, and celebrity clients who have professed their love for the collection include Mariah Carey and Leighton Meester. Most recently, her designs have been featured in Cosmopolitan's May and June 2012 issues, and W Magazine's April spread of cover girl Jessica Biel included a shot of the actress in a Jenna Leigh cotton bra.
In a piece that ran almost two years ago, Leigh told the Inquirer's Elizabeth Wellington that she initially launched her brand with a $50,000 investment from her father- one that she has since paid back in full. We're told that Bart Blatstein had no role in his daughter's upcoming space at Revel, which was designed by Leigh herself.
The designer explains she wanted her clients to fully grasp the brand's image through their experiences at the boutique. Leigh says her concept includes velvet couches, chandeliers, an antique distressed mirror, personalized hangers and model headshots for an overall "sleek sophisticated look." Furthermore, the boutique is actually part of Revel's Emporium Project- a European design concept that includes a number of small boutiques within a larger space. The high-end lingerie line will be featured alongside Vivienne Westwood and Michael Kors. "Normally we have a rack in a store, or a wall at Bloomingdales," says the designer. "Here, at Revel, we have 280 sq ft. of all Jenna Leigh."
The boutique opens July 1st.
