Joan Rivers on Whitney Houston bashing: 'It's part of being a celebrity'

POSTED: Wednesday, February 15, 2012, 11:05 AM

The day before Whitney Houston passed away, E! aired an episode of Joan Rivers and her Fashion Police co-stars bashing the singer for her poor fashion choices.

The scheduled rebroadcast of the episode was subsequently- and abruptly- pulled by the network, only to be replaced by Khloe and Lamar.

However, Rivers says she has no regrets. The critic attended the Badgley Mischka show on Tuesday to tape an episode of Fashion Police with co-star Kelly Osbourne. After the show, she told reporters, “When she’s alive, she’s fair game. It’s part of being a celebrity.”

She continued, "If Angelina Jolie died tomorrow, I'd still say she was anorexic."

Rivers however, attempted to amend her statements by adding, “Am I sorry she died? Of course I am, for God’s sake," in addition to her heartfelt tweet on Saturday: “Whitney Houston. What a sad tragedy — the end of the life of an incredible talent. RIP to an amazing singer and legend.”

She also believes that drugs were involved or contributed to Houston's death. "You take drugs, this is what happens." Rivers said she told her grandson. "There is no happy ending."

Houston passed away on Saturday at the age of 48. She was found in a bathtub in the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.

Meanwhile, Rivers and her castmates handed out fashion citations outside of Lincoln Center as part of the Fashion Week episode. It's set to air on February 24.

I'm always amazed that anyone cares about anything that Joan Rivers says.

Joan Rivers needs to lay off the facelifts. Anymore and God won't recognize her when she dies.

How dare she air a episode of her show making fun of Whitney Houston just before she died? Joan should have known that Whitney would die that weekend and pulled the episode before it aired.

Exactly AreaMan. And the way the episode was pulled after she died? It's like Joan knew she was going to die and purposely got in one last jab knowing Whitney couldn't respond. How classless! So glad this was brought to light.

Who care about Joan Rivers on her wannabe daughter Melissa. Both are disliked in Hollywood. It is true, if Joan has any more face lifts God will not recognize her....not that is funny.

Had Whitney married Randall Cunningham like she was supposed to we wouldn't be going through any of this.
