Will Corbett try Arkansas route and privatize Medicaid?

Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe, a Democrat, is trying a novel route on Medicaid expansion in the hopes of winning over the Affordable Care Act's critics in his GOP-led legislature..

He wants to offer coverage through private companies - in other words, privatize Medicaid.

Gov. Corbett, after meeting with Health and Human Services Sec. Kathleen Sibelius last week, indicated he might take a similar path for Pennsylvania.

Robert I. Field, a professor at the Earle Mack School of Law & Drexel School of Public Health, who blogs for the Inquirer on health care issues, considers this idea and its ramifications in his latest piece for The Field Clinic.
