First Lady and girls try out PA ski slopes

While President Obama was hunkered down at Camp David over the weekend, First Lady Michelle Obama and daughters, Malia and Sasha, were trying out the slopes at nearby Ski Liberty resort in south-central Pennsylvania.

On Saturday, the First Lady and her daughters - along with several Secret Service agents - made a low-key trip to Ski Liberty Resort and Conference Center in Carroll Valley, near Gettysburg.

A spokeswoman for the resort told the Evening Sun of Hanover that it was Malia and Sasha's first time on skiis and that they spent the morning with instructors on the bunny slope. The resort staff had been alerted to their visit a few days before but it was kept under wraps.

Anne Weimer reports the girls seemed to "take to skiing" and spent the afternoon skiing on their own. Weimer said no slopes were shut down for the presidential party and that they waited in the ski lift lines with everyone else.

Before heading back to Camp David, the First Entourage hit the snow tube lanes for a few runs.
