Chester County Commissioner Carol Aichele has been named the new Secretary of the Commonwealth, the cabinet position responsible overseeing the state's election system and monitoring 800,000 licensed business and health professionals.

In announcing the nomination, Gov.-elect Corbett praised Aichele for her role in securing three Triple A bond ratings to the county for its financial management practices.

Corbett also said today he would name businessman Dan Meuser, 46, of Shavertown, as the new Secretary of Revenue.

Aichele, 60, of Tredyffrin, served as county controller before being elected to the three-member Board of Commissioners in Chester County in 2003. She was re-elected to that post in November 2007.

Aichele, who made a bid for lieutenant governor in 2010, is among the 400 individuals serving on Corbett's transition team.

Both Aichele and Meuser must be confirmed by the state Senate.
