With little fanfare, Corbett endorses Romney
With just a week before the Pennsylvania primary, Gov. Corbett today threw his support behind presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney.
“Now that the long primary season has ended, it is time for Republicans to come together and unite around the one candidate who can defeat Barack Obama and institute a bold conservative vision that we need in Washington,” said Corbett in a statement released by the Romney campaign announcing the endorsement.
"Our country needs a president who will reverse President Obama’s failed policies and ensure an opportunity for all Americans to prosper. Mitt Romney will restore fiscal sanity to Washington by cutting spending, lowering taxes, and reforming entitlements."
For his part, Romney said he was "extraordinarily proud" to have earned Corbett's support, while acknowledging that Pennsylvania would be a "crucial state in November."
“Tom has been a wonderful leader for Pennsylvania and shares my values of spurring economic security through scaling back the size of government and promoting pro-growth policies," Romney said.
Corbett spokesman said there would be no formal public endorsement, but that the governor and Romney would appear together at a fundraiser in Harrisburg this afternoon before attending a dinner sponsored by the Lancaster County Republicans in Lancaster tonight.
Corbett had said he would remain neutral while there were a number of candidates in the race, including former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, who dropped out last week.
The Pennsylvania primary is Apr. 24.

Welcome to the presidential race, Governor Corbett. I am sure that Mitt is pleased to see your advisors finally let you recognize the inevitable.
Now, it's time to go back in your hole so that you can prepare to endorse Tom Smith in 8 days. That will represent the second example of bad guidance you've received from your advisors. JessieB
did he need to appoint a committee for this decision too? Donald Segretti- I thought for sure he was going to endorse Obama.
Way to go out on the limb there Tommy. Why dont you wait until after there is a new President, and throw your support behind him.
We can only hope you are a one and doner.

Why can't his four years be up already. linuxdood
This is so typical of what passes for a governor in PA in 2012. I'm surprised he didn't also speak of his timely support for William Howard Taft. AMB51
Well, I bet Romeny is thrilled to have this empty suit endorse him!!!! PLEASE REPUBLICANS.......PLEASE put another republican candidate up in a primary against Corbett. From what I am hearing no one in either party likes the guy!!!! He is never seen!!!! He hides from his constituents!!! PhillyTerm
