Corbett ultrasound comments draw fire
"Just close your eyes."
Gov. Corbett's response to a question about a bill that would force women seeking an abortion to undergo fetal ultrasounds is gaining traction across cyberspace, headlining news sites, lighting up Twitter and being seized upon as campaign fodder by Democratic political groups.
Corbett, who claims he put out a pro-ultrasound statement during his campaign last year (though I don't recall ever seeing it), said he would support the objective of HB 1077 so long as it's not "obtrusive," because women could simply close their eyes during the procedure:
At a news conference on Tuesday in the Capitol, Corbett was asked if making women watch would go "too far?"
Corbett said, "I’m not making anybody watch, OK. Because you just have to close your eyes. As long as it’s on the exterior and not the interior."

I might like the GOP if they would stop pandering to the religious right who have a bible in one hand and a gun in the other. I'd like to know how they justify there guns w/ their christian beliefs. Maybe there only christian on Sundays. Drewmcc
Comment removed.- Golly Gee Darnell, That is a great post!
on a side note-
Governor Corbett has done a lot of stupid things, but this decision is mind-numbingly stupid. This does not fit the Republican mantra of less government a more personal liberty. This is offensive to women. Personally, I would probably not choose abortion but the law of the land allows it so what is this? How about we insist on geological ground ultra sounds before every fracking? This way the gas drillers will be able to see how they are going to harm mother nature.
- If the woman is ready for a brutally invasive "procedure", how is this a problem exactly? It is completely consistent with protecting the liberty of the defenseless. The Republican party has a history of it, while the democrats have a long history of picking and choosing who should have rights. The republican party was founded upon ridding the USA of slavery. The democrats are the party of slavery, KKK, Sanger's eugenics, and on and on. Own it!
Mr. Underhill - 100% of KKK members today are republicans... they know who butters their bread !
recoveryroad - They are practically non-existent BECAUSE of Republicans. The left owns tyranny. Deal with it.
Mr. Underhill - Last I heard, abortion was legal. Mandating someone to have a medical procedure before they do something that is completely legal is utterly absurd! That is the long and short of it. Anything about "protecting the liberty of the defenseless" is fudging the issue and making excuses for acting in a tyrannical manner. An unborn foetus is NOT considered a person. If you want that to be the case, then you need to attempt to have that made law, not create others to attempt to circumvent it. Rob80
- Driving a car is perfectly legal too, but we make people take tests beforehand, don't we? Smoking is perfectly legal, but we have all sorts of restrictions on that. Choosing a healt care provider who doesn't want to provide contraceptives free is perfectly leg....oh wait, that freedom of choice just went bye-bye.
Mr. Underhill - Mr Underhill, what medical procedures do people have to go through (according to a government mandate) before they obtain any of those products/services?
Didn't think so. Whoosh! Rob80 - what?? where do you come up with this cr*p! oh, the upside down world of conservatism, where everything is a slippery slope, and "liberalism" is the basis of all evil! I'm so glad I don't think like a robot, it must get tiring trying to align your theories up with all of your left wing conspiracies ! lol !

What do you care, it is not your child and you do not have to be present during the procedure.
Are you this worked up over the real live babies, who were 4 and 5 years old when one of our brave men in uniform, "thank you for your service", blasted them in the head while they slept? Are you as worried about the babies we call "collateral damage" when our missiles and rockets go astray in some far off third world land.
What is the story with you right wingers and worrying about other peoples lives, are your lives so empty that you want to think yourself a super hero by involving yourself in a none issue?
Why don't you go to a ghetto and feed a hungry child, read them a book, buy them some need clothes, no you would rather take the easy safe route screaming bumper sticker adds safely behind your PC. fel121
Comment removed.- C'mon, Drew, don't you really mean to say you might like the GOP if they simply would fall in line and become liberal Democrats like yourself? Otherwise, you could never really like a member of the GOP.
DreamOn - What does this have to do with guns
