Gov.-elect Tom Corbett has nominated Ronald Tomalis to be his top education guy. Between 1994 and 2001, Tomalis, 48, served as executive deputy secretary of education under then-state education chief Eugene Hickok. selected to the state department reached back into the Ridge administration Thursday to select his nominee to lead the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
Until 2004, Tomalis worked in the U.S. Department of Education, where he managed implementation of No Child Left Behind.
More recently, Tomalis is now working for Dutko Worldwide/Whiteboard Advisers, a lobbying and public-affairs firm.
