She's Baaaack!

Sarah Palin is coming back to Washington for a speech to a conservative group. Can a reboot of her career be far behind?

She's Baaaack!

Just when you thought it was safe to stop saying "You Betcha," Sarah Palin is coming back to the political scene.

The former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican veep nominee is scheduled to speak at the Conservative Political Action Conference next month at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center just south of Washington -- although you wouldn't think conservatives would meet any place named Gaylord.

Other speakers scheduled include Florida Sen. Marco Rubio (presumably with water bottle within easy reach), former Florida governor Jeb Bush (the son/brother of former presidents), Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul (the son of a former would-be president) and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (the country's first governor to survive a recall election).

So Palin may have parted ways with Fox News, but it looks like the Tina Fey look-alike is looking to get back on the national political stage.

She spoke at the same conference last year and was a hit.

The Washington Post reported that among her lines moving the conservative applause meter were:

"This government isn’t too big to fail; it’s too big to succeed.”

"Hope and change? Yeah, you gotta hope things change.”

And, referring to President Obama:

"He promised to transform America, and that’s one promise he’s kept; he transformed a shining city on a hill into a sinking ship."

F. Scott Fitzgerald once said, "There are no second acts in American lives."

But, come on, he wasn't in American politics. Tina Fey better brush up on her Palin accent.

When did she ever leave the conservative scene. This seems like more Sarah Palin picking. Shouldn't we be worried about the Obama administration ducking the real press in lieu of reality tv reporting?

I've always felt if not for Sarah McCain would have lost by double digits. She unfortunately is the only one capable of winning in the Republican Party.
They just have to find a way to accept the fact that only a strong (not necessarily smart)female will lead the GOP to where it is trying to get. This is sad considering the Dems were actually preparing for a harder fight against her than Romney or anyone else.
But for some reason Gop powers that be were afraid to give her the nod. When the GOP cantruly admit to why they don't totally back her they will find out where their shortcomings are.

It seesm the only folks who care about Sarah palin are the left wing loonie media who seem to be obsessed with her in a VERY creepy way. If not for the left wing loonies, she would have disappeared years ago....put the blame for her still being relevant where it belongs...on those who cannot stand her, but continue to be weirdly obsessed...

Not a Palin fan but i think it's funny that the author can't find something better to write about than an upcoming CPAC conference and year old quotes.

She's done. Elmer and Martha in Kentucky and the rest of the GOP aren't real thrilled with her boning Glen Rice.

So the spokes woman for the party of Family Values is coming back.
You have to wonder how she'll top Act I in which she held up her daughter as the poster girl for Single Parenthood and offered us living proof that condoms work better than abstinence.

When will people forget that Marco Rubio demonstrated he has enough sense to take a sip of water when he needs one and remember that the Savior of the GOP gave little indication he's got any fresh ideas to offer?
His rebuttal to The State of The Union Address sounded as though it were written before The Address had been given and echoed the same old negative parrot talk we heard throughout the Republican Primary and Election campaigns.
Not a single solution to the problems that confront us was offered - not so much as a hint.

Further proof that politics is nothing more than pro wrestling for people who consider themselves mildly intelligent. Caribou Barbie comes out of nowhere throwing haymakers and dropping the elbow on Obama and Biden, only to be bodyslammed and pinned. Four years later you can almost hear Vince McMahon screaming, "ohh, OHH NO!!! LOOK WHO'S BACK! IT'S CARIBOU BARBIE!!!!!!!"

Keep falling for the myth of the two party system, folks. You're only making it stronger by the day.

Sarah Palin is a retread of a tire with nothing to offer and I am a conservative Republican who believes in responsible and responsive government as opposed to what is going on between Boehner and Obama. Palin imploded her own career when revelations were made that she had an affair with a future NBA basketball player while in college and engaged to her boyfriend. Her behavior was hypocritical to daughter Bristol who showed herself well in Dancing with the Stars.

July 2, 1964...the most powerful fact in contemporary American politics...And yes the size 14 shoe was the downfall of Ms. Palin.

It's all about the $$$. She does not want any office. She wants the exposure for more books, TV gigs, etc. She quit as gov. to Alaska to make money. Now she's looking to cash in more by pretending to run.

Keep spreading the fear and lies Cricket. Go to snopes.com and search for Obama phone. And as far as I know, pretty much everything else you mentioned was kept alive by previous presidents too. Keep playing the lib vs conservative game against each other, Peasants. It'll get us far.

John Wayne is a myth, Sarah Palin quit and Reagan ran from Beirut.

Rural America loved (LOVED) socialist Roosevelt Democrats until July 2, 1964.

Philadelphia Crickete Club invalidates her entire rant not only when she refers to a host of incorrect statements but particularly when she references "Obama Phones" because it doesn't exist. In fact, that phone program was also active under the Bush Administration. But hey, why bother with facts when you can give a good psychotic rant.

"Lifeline and programs like it have been around quite a while. Lifeline was created in 1985 and expanded in 2008 during the Bush administration to include cell phone service. An FCC spokeswoman told PolitiFact in 2009 that the 1996 Telecommunications Act required the FCC to create the Universal Service Fund, a pool of money subsidized by small charges on phone bills and redistributed to low-income service programs, as well as programs that bring telecommunications services to rural areas and schools."

You are correct that the Obamaphone program has been around for some time, pre-dating even Bush. It started as a land line program to enable poor and elderly individuals to have 911 access. However, the number of users has sky-rocketed under Obama, similar to many other welfare programs. Oversight is also completely lacking, as many individuals obtain more than one phone, or obtain phones for their children. I consider myself conservative, especially when it comes to government involvement in our lives. However, I firmly believe that we as society have a moral responsibility to assist those who are in need. This does not include providing 250 free monthly minutes of free cellular service. I would surmise that 10 minutes would be enough to communicate any emergency situation to a 911 operator. Anything more is a luxury that other subscribers and taxpayers should not be obliged to pay for, especially to working age, able bodied individuals. Perhaps if people in those categories had to actually pay for cellular service, rather than have it and other amenities provided free of charge from the producers in society, there may be more incentive to exit the welfare rolls. As long as it remains a good deal to continue drawing from society, and we avoid attaching any stigma to doing so, the percentage of our population accepting a free ride will continue to rise.

"However, the number of users has sky-rocketed under Obama, similar to many other welfare programs."

Could it be that the numbers have risen because of the recession and people losing their sources of income in the process?

It doesn't matter who the president was during the start of the recession. These numbers would have increased anyways.

There's obviously no reason to engage with folks as ignorant as you and Accountability. The program began under Ronald Reagan, one of the worst Presidents ever and one of the most fiscally irresponsible in history, nearly tripling the federal deficit and raising taxes 11 times in 8 years.

Both Accountability and Philadelphia Cricket Club show why the GOP is becoming insignifcant with every day.

These two also show why education is important because if you go through life as ignorant as these two, our society will continue to erode.

BTW, please provide some data to support your claim that the number welfare phone users has "skyrocketed" under Obama. We'll wait.

BTW, just the fact that you keep saying "Obama Phone" relfects how imbecylic you neocon losers both are.

BTW, Accountabiliy and Cricket Club probably can't read but the fact is that "the 1996 Telecommunications Act required the FCC to create the Universal Service Fund, a pool of money subsidized by small charges on phone bills and redistributed to low-income service programs, as well as programs that bring telecommunications services to rural areas and schools."

That means geniuses that this program also supports the poor rednecks that you count as your allies. Tell those poor rednecks in rural areas to get off their rear ends already.

I always love to see republicans, who constantly say that government shouldn't be involved in the free market, complaining that the government isn't doing enough about gas prices and wages. Idiot. Higher gas prices means supply is short or demand is up. Right now it's because supply is short, but they've been on the rise lately because of demand being up. What does that mean? More trucks using gas, more people taking more trips, etc. Why? Because the economy is improving. I know, it doesn't fit your idealogue attitude to admit it, but things are getting better. Turn off FAUX NEWS and learn to think for yourself.

We can only hope. I gave the GOP until 2020 before it devolved to Whig status. With this brainless bimbo back in the limelight, they'll be completely irrelevant to anyone other than late night comedians and members of the WBC by 2016.
