New York races = sex in the city

The political news out of New York City seems to be driven by sex stuff, even without mentioning Weiner.

New York races = sex in the city

Drop into New York City politics these days and you see lots of reporting and opinion writing about sex, hookers and lesbians. And that's without even mentioning "pervy pol" Anthony Weiner.

The New York Post, for example, offers an item suggesting city controller candidate (and disgraced former governor) Eliot Spitzer cost the state more than $10,000 to pay for staff accompanying him on trips to see hookers in Florida and Washinton in 2008.

A Spitzer spokesman calls the report "untrue and outrageous."

Meanwhile, The New York Daily News reports the lesbian wife of mayoral candidate and City Council Speaker Christine Quinn is worried about death threats against her spouse for being gay.

With just weeks before the city's Democratic primary, Quinn's wife, Kim Catullo -- who would be New York's first gay first lady should Quinn become the city's first gay, first woman mayor -- says her focus as first lady would be on homelessness, literacy and animal shelters.

Even the venerable New York Times is offering sexy bits. Columnist Maureen Dowd writes about a past interview with mayoral candidate Bill de Blasio and his African-American lesbian wife, Chirlane McCray, in which McCray was asked if her marriage to a white heterosexual man means she's no longer a lesbian.

"She answered ambiguously," writes Dowd, noting McCray said, "I am married. I have two children. Sexuality is a fluid thing, and it's personal. I don't even understand the question, quite frankly."

And even though Weiner's out of the picture these days (get it? picture?), his sexting scandal lives on.

The New York Daily News reports Weiner's 23-year old sex-pal Sydney Leathers releases a porn flick today seeking to extend her moments in the, um, sun. The porno's titled "Weiner and Me." Subtle, no?

Is New York or is it not the greatest city in the world?
