Recap: 'The Flash,' episode 315, 'The Wrath of Savitar'

The Flash -- "The Wrath of Savitar" - (L-R): Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow, Grant Gustin as Barry Allen and Tom Felton as Julian Albert.

Savitar's plan to return has come to fruition.  As expected Kid Flash was his ace in the hole.  And in attempting to do away with Savitar, Wally gave him exactly what he wanted: freedom.  Apparently it was a reveal that Savitar was trapped in the Speedforce.  But I am certain I was not the only person to have figured that out weeks ago.  But regardless, lets take this from the top.

Barry's spider senses go off when he sees Wally being tossed around an alley by an invisible Savitar.  But Barry being in denial refuses to believe Wally.  He even admonishes Wally, for keeping the fact that he's been seeing Savitar, to himself.  Wally was just trying to deal.  After all who can confidently admit to seeing things?  Because if honestly is a symptom, you have more problems.

We also learned a lot from our fireside chats with Savitar.  That his killing Iris is a matter of life or death for him.  He said, "It was you or me."  Finding out why will be the key to stopping him.  We also got a good look at Savitar sans CGI.  And a look at Barry actually holding his own against him in a fight.  Which was rewarding.  You hope all the laps they run training to beat Savitar are having some positive impact.  But you can't really be sure until the test.  I'm glad its paying off.

Now we also saw Wally sucked into the Speedforce, as it was required for Savitar to be released.  He needed someone fast enough, to take his place.  I imagine we'll learn more about what the Speedforce wants or will allow in the future.  The Speedforce seems to be sentient as its communicated with Barry before.  Next week Barry enters the Speedforce in hopes of retrieving Wally.  So this should be good seeing how Wally handles the maze that is the infinite Speedforce.  As well as what troubling projections it reveals from Wally's dark psyche.

The rest of Savitar's prophecies seem to be coming true as well.  "One will betray you.  One will die.  One will experience a fate worse than death."  Who, as of today, are Kaitlyn, Iris and Wally, respectively.  Iris' death is what this whole second half is motivated towards avoiding.  Kaitlyn found a piece of the Philosopher's Stone after its majority was thrown into the Speedforce.  She kept it concealed hoping she could use it to remove or stifle her powers.  Now Wally is in a place he doesn't fully understand being tormented by he doesn't even know what.  Which in my opinion sounds like a literal hell.
