Japanese garden

Water, stone, wood

Japanese garden

I love this photo. It's just a cluster of leaves from one of many Japanese maple trees in Portland's Japanese Garden. This is such an inspirational place. Talk about a design that emphasizes simplicity, using water, stone and wood. Everything was a work of art, from the meticulously shaped trees and raked gravel to the gracefully placed rocks and musing koi. The garden paths were filled with visitors but they were very quiet, respectful.
