Wounded police officer stable after apparent setback
Inquirer staff report:
A police officer shot in the shoulder over the weekend has been moved to intensive care and is reported in stable condition after apparently suffering a setback in his recovery.
Police Officer Ashley Hoggard, who had been reported in good condition last night, was expected to be released from Temple University Hospital today.
But police this morning said the 26-year-old officer had been moved back to intensive care, where he is in stable condition.
FOX-29 TV quoted Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey as saying Hoggard had developed some internal bleeding.
Police are looking for the gunman who shot Hoggard during a gunbattle that left three other people wounded outside a bar at Broad and Somerset Streets around 2:30 a.m. yesterday.

Dr.Thorpe - guess your PHD isn't in English. It's "there" , not "their" genius. Maybe you should focus your thoughts on a prayer for Officer Hoggard versus your smarta** comments. Joe Hoagie
I am all for the stop and search by the police. I'm 52y/o, back in my teen days, the cops would pull up to a group of us, question us,frisk us, and if no one had weapons, no harm, no foul. They got to know who's ok,and who are the troublemakers. I could drive by a street corner today, and if I see the same group of men day in day out, well, if I was a cop patroling,I will stop and ask you your intentions, and if it ain't sounding right,I going to frisk you.Police officers need to clearly know their area of serving and protecting the citizens and their property findmysonskiller
Rachel D: An attack on a policeman or policewoman is an attack on civil society most viciously and prominently, and is therefore news. With so many shootings in a violent city like Philadelphia it would be hard to fully cover and do follow ups on all like incidents. Plus, if it bleeds it leads and if it is a cop you can at once please all: both cop haters and those who support the police. joedog

To all: Regrets and apologies. My post appeared 3 times. Does anyone else have this problem with posting comments on the Inky sites? joedog- A basic Google search shows that the only Dr. Helen Thorpe in Philly is a MD (medical doctor)in Torresdale. I think someone is off their meds. RAS
- At least they caught it before they released him. I'm praying for his speedy recovery. Ilmare
