Whale of a reward offered for missing fish

This is not your typical fish story.

A New Jersey nursery is offering a $1,000 reward for information on the whereabouts of four koi fish that disappeared from its  indoor pond, the Bergen Record reports this morning.

Katie Meeks, co-owner of Waterford Gardens in Saddle River, Bergen County, said one of the fish is a 30-pounder named Floyd, who survived Tropical Storm Floyd in 1999 when water and mud swept the  big boy through a broken window to a pond in the back of the nursery.

Floyd has been at the store for 20 years and something of a tourist attraction, the Record says. The other fish have been there for 10 to 12 years.

Meeks fears the fish won't survive if they're put in an outside pond. They were discovered missing when nursery staff went to feed the fish on Saturday.
