W. Philly man in police custody in scalding of twins

Inquirer staff writer Sam Wood reports:

Police today announced they are searching for a West Philadelphia man wanted for aggravated assault after allegedly scalding two 19-month-old boys last week.

Jason Carter, 22, was caring for his girlfriend’s twins March 18 at her home on the 5800 block of Master Street. At about 3 p.m., police received a 911 call from the house reporting the children had been seriously burned.

Police said Carter bathed the boys in water hot enough to cause second and third degree burns to their lower extremities. The injuries, which were treated at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, covered about a third of each boy’s body.

4:45 PM UPDATE - Carter has turned himself in, and is in custody at police headquarters awaiting arraignment.
