U. Darby police issue warrant for beaten infant's fugitive dad

Inquirer Staff Writer Joelle Farrell reports:

The Upper Darby police have issued a warrant for the father of 3-month-old infant, Henry Paris IV, who police said was beaten last week.

Henry Paris III, 32, of Drexel Hill, fled from the area last night in a white Nissan sedan with a Pennsylvania license plate GWK2718.

Police believe Paris may still be in Pennsylvania or the New York City area, where he has friends.

On Nov. 24, a babysitter alerted authorities to the baby's injuries. The infant was taken to Delaware County Memorial Hospital and then transferred to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

The infant has been upgraded to stable condition, but his prognosis is not hopeful, according to Superintendent of Police Michael J. Chitwood. He is recovering from a fractured skull, bleeding on the brain and broken ribs.

"We suspect that he will be dependent on others for the rest of his life," Chitwood said.
