U.S. Mint employee indicted
An employee of the U.S. Mint Philadelphia was indicted today on charges of using his job in the supply department to have the Mint buy hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of supplies from a Bucks County company where he also worked and from whose president he received cash and other gifts, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

Michael Walker, 49, of Upper Darby, was charged with mail, wire and honest services fraud, conflict of interest violations, and making false statements to the federal government.
According to the indictment, from about 1998 until about March 2006 Walker caused the Mint to buy more than $700,000 worth of supplies from KLH Enterprises LLC and a corporate predecessor.
The indictment says Walker failed to report his relationship with KLH and the gifts he received. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 245 years imprisonment.
