Two cops injured in crash in Port Richmond
Inquirer staff writer Sam Wood reports:
Two Philadelphia police officers were injured this morning when their cruiser crashed into a cement mixer truck in the city’s Port Richmond section.
The officers were near the intersection of West Moreland and Gaul Street shortly after 11 a.m. when their car skidded on an oil-slick section of road and careered out of control. No civilians were injured.
Both officers, from the highway patrol division, were taken to Temple University Hospital where they were expected to be treated and released, said a police spokeswoman.
Hey Sam, the street name is Westmoreland, not West Moreland. Try looking at a map or something. hopster
It's actually East Westmoreland. Yup. Again.. check a map. Localjoe

So many times I wonder who the copy editors are in the Philly media. It's "Westmoreland". I'm sure we'll read a story soon about an incident in Northeast Philadelphia at Front and Dauphin. Jack Klompus- No one comments about the fact that the cops hit a CEMENT MIXER?!?! What were they doing?

Given how many Philly cops I see (a) stopping at stop signs, (b) using turn signals, and (c) going anywhere even close to the speed limit, I'm really not surprised they crash cars like toys. They set a horrible example that the rest of Philly seems all too ready to follow. C'mon Philly Blue--how about some courtesy and safe driving on our roads? newbolder- what about charges?
Wait a minute....there were cops in Port Richmond?? That intersection is HORRIBLE during the day, so I'm not surprised. There are always people getting into accidents there, but the only time it's announced is when cops are involved. Get a life people!!!! flyersgal517
Highway Patrol is the best the city has, these are not your common Shawanda's. They must have been on a call. JamesIgnatius
