Inquirer staff report:
SEPTA officials today plan to unveil a new partnership with Google that will allow mass transit users in Southeastern Pennsylvania to plan trips online.
By using Google Transit, riders will be able to plug in starting points and destinations and find out how to get there by train, trolley or bus, or a combination of any of the three.

Well done. Congratulations for seeing the light, SEPTA.
How did Google and Septa ever end up in the same room?
Washington DC Metro system has been "on board" with this for months. Maybe SEPTA will consider fare cards and electronic payments next.
to bad it won't increase or better service. That's the real issue. Septa is a disgrace!!!!!!!!!
The link still needs some work. I tried it from Old City to Temple University and instead of giving the most direct route, The Market Street EL to the Broad Street Line, it gave me a link to the Regional Rail at three times the cost. SEPTA needs to get with it. NYC Transit has a feature where you can get directions from your cell or Blackberry. SEPTA is still in the stone age.
They don't seem to recognize buses as public transportation. For a trip from Southwest Center City to West Phila, the site suggested I walk to 22nd & Market, then take the 34 trolley to 42nd & Baltimore instead of the 12 and 21 buses. Other trips suggested regional rail by rather roundabout routes. Maybe they're still working on it.
All the googling in the world can't make the bus show up on time.
I had no trouble planning my trip using the SEPTA website. I haven't tried the Google link but I don't see why it was needed.
Beautiful!
