Inquirer staff writer Sam Wood reports:
Police called to a house in the city’s Fairmount section last night discovered a man’s body packed into in a large wooden box.
Investigators responded about 9:30 p.m. to a row house on the 700 block of N. Croskey Street, a half-block from Eastern State Penitentiary, and found the box in the front room. When they opened the box, police found the severely beaten body of a 55-year-old man inside.
Medics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The man has not been named pending notification of his family. Investigators believe the man may have been assaulted on Saturday.

how did he lock himself in the crate?
My God who would do such a thing. We have some sick evil people in this world.
Was his name Jack?
Jeremy Bentham?
This is what happens when you get involved with the narcotics trade...now there is 1 less "problem" in Fairmount!

Sam, medics can't "pronounce." Nurses can't pronounce either. Only docs can pronounce death, a legal requirement. The medics can discover the victim dead at the scene, but the technical use of the term pronouncement of death is only done by a doc. Just a small note for a great crime writer and journalist.
He was a proponent of the ESP dog park. Looks like Slasher got to him.
