Philadelphia police say a motorcycle crash injured two people who were fleeing from officials in Delaware County after a chase into the city's Southwest section.

Police started chasing the bike in Tinicum Township in connection with a possible road race. The pursuit led into Southwest Philadelphia.

At around 1:15 a.m., at the intersection of Bertram and Island avenues, the bike crashed, injuring the operator and passenger - a man and a woman.

Both were hospitalized, where police say they are in critical condition.

There are two types of riders - those who have crashed, and those who are going to crash.

The heading almost makes it sound like the crash ws the fault of the police for chasing. If a thug/lawbreaker has any semblance of a working brain why do they run from the police? Do they really think they'll get away......oh great, I shook 'em off....they probably gave up....!!!!! NOOOOTTTTT!!!

Eluding police should somehow be a major felony...complete with automatic jail time...say 2 years. The penalty needs to be severe...and maybe stop these idiots from running. I have no sympathy for them.

Lousy editing on this. Bartram is spelled wrong, and I think they meant the chase started as the result of road rage?

If only they all ended like this. Glad to hear they got what they deserved.

As a law abiding motorcyclist of 15+ years, I'm glad this guy got what he deserved. Moral of the story, don't run from police. Period. The only real tragedy here is the female who was on the back and was not in control of the situation. The driver was not only foolish enough to risk his own life, but wreckless and stupid enough to risk the safety of his girl who was hanging on for dear life on the back. Some people are beyond stupid.
