Police arrest 'elderly' suspect in bank robbery

The older man wanted by the FBI and Philadelphia police for robbing a Center City bank yesterday was arrested this morning. His identity has not been released.

Inquirer staff writer Zoe Tillman reports:

The FBI has identified the man wanted in yesterday's Center City bank robbery as Jerry Lee Stanton, 59, of West Philadelphia. He was arrested by FBI agents today at around 10:30 a.m. on the 5000 block of Walnut Street.

FBI agent Vicki Humphreys, a spokeswoman for the agency, said Stanton will be charged locally.

The robber was caught on camera yesterday demanding an undisclosed amount of money from a teller at the Citizens Bank branch at 20th and Market Streets. He was last seen fleeing on foot westbound on Market Street.
