Police have named the two men arrested after yesterday's triple shooting in Old City, and both are from the suburbs.

They are Brandon Mooty, 28, of the unit block of Elvon Avenue in Lansdowne, and Richard Ford, 28, from 400 block of Kent Road in Upper Darby.

As the Inquirer's Kia Gregory previously reported:

Police were working club detail in the 200 block of Letitia Street about 2:30 a.m yesterday when an argument between two groups of men erupted in gunfire.

One man, 25, was shot in the abdomen and was in critical condition at Hahnemann University Hospital. Another 25-year-old was shot in the knee, and a 23-year-old sustained a shoulder wound and a graze wound to his jaw. They were reported in stable condition at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

Ron I also heard the girls in Kensington have more teeth and less tatoos than in Fishtown. Any truth to that?

hopster, Cheltenham eh? The same Cheltenham comprised of Elkins Park, Melrose Park, Lantham Park, Wyncote, etc? The one right next to Jenkintown? Since you like to make assumptions about neighborhoods you don't know anything about, how about looking up real estate prices of 19095, 19027, and 19038.

the "suburbs" are not defined by how nice/safe they are (although that's how most people use the word). they are defined by their geographical location on a map. as in sub "near" urb "city". anywhere near the city but not technically in the city is a suburb.

Why does the tag "both are from the suburbs" seem to be an entirely meaningless and out of place injection. If by adding those words, you think are saying "see, bad people come from the suburbs, too?" well, we already know that. So, raise the level of the conversation and move on already.

Contact your state rep to pass HB 1567, which removes parole and probation for repeat violent offenders. Repeat violent offenders make up 70% or more of the crime in an urban setting, studies show, and states that removed parole and probation for repeat violent offenders saw significant, sustained decreases in crime. NYC is a good example. Times Square went from drugs and tricks to tourism and trade, a move Philly needs to make in Old City and the whole city.

upper darby is NOT Philadelphia. it's Darby township, morons. not city limits. Philadelphia Police do not patrol Darby. it's outside of Philly. it's an armpit of the burbs. grab a map and learn the city's boundaries.

The sad part is hopster is that Cheltenham used to be one heck of a Township until of course a certain element started moving in. Cheltenham and Cederbrook Malls at one time were alot different than I would imagine they are today.

this goes on everywhere, with shootings, drugs, alcohol, stop the pinpointing

you guys are absolutely right. Places like Upper Darby, Cheltenham, Sharon Hill, Collingdale, Yeadon, Bensalem and Bristol are just extensions of city neighborhoods. They are no safer than living in some sections of the city.

Suburbia uh? Obviously more misinformation. Upper Darby is 69th Street and Lansdowne is right next door. Thats like saying Kensington is the suburb of Fishtown.

Suburbanites are animals in an alcohol induced haze who abandoned city years ago to swell the population of townships, then come back to the city for an education and to party. The abandoned neighborhoods and factories are their legacy of quitting and moving on,just like their leader Sarah I'm too sensitive Palin.

The bad guys should be given target pratice by the city,so when the shoot each other they wont be transported to a local hospital;but straight to the MORGUE!!! What a tax savings.

Anyone who considers Upper Darby a suburb, obviously has never been there.

Idiots with guns come in all shapes & colors, and they come from all suburbs, cities and countries. Stop making everything a race thing!
