5 hurt in Shore highway pileup

Five people were injured, two seriously, this morning in a five-car pile-up in the southbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway in Cape May County.

Inquirer staff writer Naomi Nix reports:

Five people were injured, two seriously, this morning in  a five-car pile-up in the southbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway in Cape May County.

The crash occurred before 9 a.m. near the intersection with Stone Harbor Boulevard in Cape May Courthouse.

Details are sketchy, but police say two people were taken to the Atlantic City Medical Center, which has a trauma unit. Three other people were treated and released from Cape Regional Medical Center, which is located at the intersection.

One of the victims had been pinned and two medevac helicopters went to the scene.
