Phillies to visit White House today

Inquirer staff report:

The currently struggling Phillies are still living large off last year's World Series victory.

They're headed to Washington today for a White House meeting with President Obama, who was still a candidate when the Phils won the title in October.

The trip had been planned for last month but was postponed because of the death of Phillies announcer Harry Kalas.

Shortstop Jimmy Rollins is to present the president with a gift and speculation is centering on it being a shirt with the name Obama and the number 44 on it. Obama is the 44th president.
