Inquirer staff writer Sam Wood reports:

The year’s homicide toll in Philadelphia  reached 300 last night after police discovered a man stabbed to death in his Rhawnhurst apartment.

The man, who has not been named by police, was found bound, gagged and slashed multiple times shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday on the 2100 block of Glendale Street. Police have no suspects or motive in the slaying.

The murder count remains about lower about 17 percent lower than last year’s total of 360 killings to date, according to the Philadelphia Police department’s website.
