Mayor Michael Nutter at a press conference today refused to speculate on what might happen if a SEPTA strike occurred this weekend, with so many large events happening in the city.
"Well, today is Friday. The parties have been talking," Nutter said. "When parties are talking, it's a much more positive sign than when they're not."
Nutter asked fans to be cooperative and helpful - and specifically asked Eagles fans to leave the sports complex immediately after the game. Phillies fans were asked to wait one hour after the end of the Eagles game to head to the sports complex.
A spokesman for the Philadelphia Parking Authority said he was encouraging riders to use SEPTA, but that several garages in Center City would also be offering reduced rates for game parking. Police also said they were increasing deployment of officers, especially around the stadium complex; that the will not tolerate rowdy behavior; and that state Liquor Control Board agents will be patrolling the stadium parking lots.
"There are ways to have fun and not get arrested in the process," said Nutter.
