POSTED: Thursday, March 26, 2009, 8:33 AM

The Associated Press reports:

A 14-year-old girl in New Jersey faces child pornography charges after allegedly posting nearly 30 nude pictures of herself on MySpace.

The Passaic County Sheriff's Department’s Internet Crimes Unit conducted a month-long investigation and discovered the Clifton resident had posted the photos of herself.

Any of her cyber friends or anyone who knew her full name could have accessed the images.

The teen is charged with one count of possession of child pornography and one count of
distribution of child pornography. She was released to her mother’s custody.

Authorities say there may be additional arrests.

Landfill - NJ is a wonderful place to raise children . What are you talking about? Anyhoo, these kids must live under a rock. With all the noise being mad about sexting and nude photos on line being AGAINST THE LAW they still continue to do this. What is the problem? Low self esteem.

First, I believe the investigation took so long because they were looking for the adult who posted pictures of this child... It seemed to easy for it to be the 'victim' herself for posting the pictures... And yes, her parents should be held responsible - they should be monitoring her internet use, visiting her myspace and facebook pages and making sure there is nothing out of the ordinary there. And finally, yes, she should be charged with distribution. She posted pictures of a minor on the internet (doesn't matter that they were of herself). Any one of her underage friends could have clicked through and seen the pic, then forwarded it to friends, and next thing you know this girl's pic is everywhere. So to charge her with distribution is not unheard of...Possession, however, is a bit of a stretch, since the only pictures she had were of herself (that we know of). I'm actually surprised that her parents haven't been charged, since they own the computer that she used to store and upload the pictures from. But no, then they would have to take responsibility for their precious little snowflake!

I agree with spab, she can no longer victimize herself!
