Man shot dead on N. Philly street

Inquirer staff writer Sam Wood reports:

Police this morning identified a man who was fatally shot last night near his home in North Philadelphia.

Gary Kelly, 35, was standing near the corner of 27th Street and Montgomery Avenue shortly before 9:30 p.m. when he was approached by a gunman and shot multiple times

Kelly, of the 1800 block of N. 27th Street, was struck in the neck, back, and leg. Medics rushed him to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 10 p.m.

Investigators have no suspects or motive in the slaying.
