Good Morning, Philadelphia: Rebuilt 63rd Street Market Street El Station opens for service

An eastbound Market-Frankford El train rolls into the newly reopened 63d Street Station early this morning.

Staff photographer Clem Murray reports:

Closed for nearly a year, the Market Street Elevated Line station at 63d Street reopened for business this morning without fanfare.

Some finish work is still being done, but Kevin O’Brien, the senior project manager, said,  “SEPTA wanted a ‘soft opening’ for the convenience of its customers.”

The station, which closed in June, is the last of six on the west end of the line to be reopened after being rebuilt.
