Bob Markowski is up high on a step ladder to water and feed one of the 80 flower baskets on the street lights lining Germantown Ave in Chestnut Hill this morning.

Markowski, horticulturalist with the Chestnut Hill Garden District Fund, spends up to 11 hours a day tending the 203 baskets, barrels and window boxes filled with petunias, imaptiens, verbena, helichrysum, torenia, sweet potato vines and other plants that brighten Chestnut Hill courtesy of the Chestnut Hill Business Improvement District.
