Firefighters rescue man pinned under car in S. Phila.

Firefighters freed a 63-year-old man who was pinned beneath his car this morning after it fell on him while working on the vehicle in South Philadelphia.

Inquirer staff writer Traver Riggins reports:

Firefighters freed a 63-year-old man who was pinned beneath his car this morning after it fell on him while working on the vehicle in South Philadelphia.

He was taken to Jefferson University Hospital shortly after 10 a.m. His vital signs were good and he is in stable condition, said Fire Chief Daniel Williams.

Both of the man's legs were pinned under the front driver's side of the car when its wheel jacks gave out on the 2500 block of South 8th Street. His left leg sustained severe injuries.
