The crowd outside Robinson Luggage gets rowdy. (Elizabeth Robertson / Staff Photographer)

Matt Katz writes:

The looting on South Broad Street began shortly after midnight. Four men went inside the Robinson Luggage outlet at Broad and Walnut — through a busted glass door — and came out with about half dozen pieces of luggage. The cops immediately responded, but the men were able to run off.

Jonathan Tamari writes:

At Cottman and Frankford Avenues, the celebration took a nasty turn about 12:20 a.m. Police begin breaking up the crowd to give firefighters a chance to get to some small blazes, and the people responded by throwing bottles at officers.

There's always some knuckleheads that have to cause trouble. The city will wake up in the morning with yet another black eye from the national media.

How embarassing!!!! From the old city PR song....."Philadelphia...Get To Know Us". What jerks! I'm out of town for a business conference. Instead of going to the morning meetings with a subtle sense of smugness over the Phillies victory, i am likely to hear about the uncivil behavior of a bunch of cretins. Hopefully, it will be another generation before Philadelphia sees another major sports championship!

Wow. I was at the game tonight and took the subway there and back. When I got off the subway around 11pm on broad street, we came out right there where Robinson Luggage is located. The first thing I saw was somebody being arrested. People were ripping down the Phillies Flags that were hanging on each street. I left around 12 pm, and their were no "looting" at that time. Just a huge crowd of people going nuts that the PHILS ARE WORLD SERIES CHAMPS. The whole scene was crazy though.

I hope no one out looting and rioting tonight complains about paying taxes. What a waste of police resources.
