The Coast Guard will hold a hearing April 6 into the sinking of a scallop boat off Cape May that left six crewmen dead or lost at sea in one of the East Coast's deadliest commercial fishing disasters.

Only one crew member survived the sinking of the Lady Mary, on Tuesday 75 miles out at sea.

The joint hearing with the National Transportation Safety Board will attempt to reach conclusions about the cause and develop safety recommendations for opererations of similar vessels.

The sole survivor, who was sleeping when the boat started to go down, could not shed much light on what might have caused the sinking.

Services for the two men who died and whose bodies were recovered are scheduled for Monday in North Carolina.
