"World champions. World (f-bomb) champions."

Chase Utley is the quiet man no more.

And the crowd is stunned for about a millisecond, and then gives him the biggest cheer of all.

Clearly Utley was caught up in the emotion of the moment and it's deserved. Congrats Phils!!

I know he's going to catch flak for that, but it was (f-bomb) great.

what is truth?
Real words for a real city, real fans, and a real team!!!!

He was just caught up in a passionate moment, and he gets a pass.

Now, after the thing with the Mets fans at the ASG, he's "that guy who says F--- on television"

I am almost 56 years old. I know the "f" word...I have used it often......I even know what it means...However, I know enough to not use it in front of children. I hope my grandchildren never see or hear Utley's drunken (I hope that's why he said that) comment.

guess there were no kids in the crowd

It was f-ing great and "I think" it was because he was booed at the All Star Game. We are in Philly and we tell it like it is!

He can always claim he didn't know the mike was on. Now go sit in the corner young man!

Chase, I love you man, but that was just wrong.

It was fun to watch, but i think he will soon regret saying it. But still an awesome day!

Oh please. The kids will live. It was a great moment that shows Utley truly gets Philly.

Whether he'd been drinking or not, that was like the least spontaneous F-bomb ever. I don't think it suddenly occurred to him to say it. Seem a little forced, maybe?

i just love that Chase, the quiet and polite one, was the one to show that he gets us in philly, our refusal to behave the way we're "supposed to" behave - that we are rough and tough and say it exactly the way we feel. way to go, chase - you will always be my #1 !!

Friggin' right, Chase (in case the children are reading this column)!

Given the kids in the crowd and watching on TV, he shouldn't have said it but it was a waker-upper. And, I think it was on purpose given the hassle he got for the "language malfunction" at the All Star game. GO PHILS!!!

Who gives a F-bomb about the f-bomb. It's just an f-bomb-ing WORD! Honestly, if parents are offended, then the kids must already know what it means, and have heard it before - in which case, who gives an f-bomb if they hear it again! Go Utley!

I like to use my real name when I post a comment. Hiding behind an internet alias is like dropping the "f-bomb" when the nun's back is turned.

Uncool. 360 of 985 students in my school (where i teach) went to that parade. The kids will live, sure. But by saying what he did...he can only be thought less of. Who was he trying to impress? Really foolish thing to do.

it was wrong. It's funny people were all ecstatic because he said a dirty word. Oooh, exciting.

the f-word means nothing now a days. the words they say on radio and television were forbidden not too long ago. Cant have it both ways. Your kids probably know more curse words than you think. (Harry Hoopes)

Whats wrong with curse words? They are only taboo by definition, not because of any actual harm they cause.

TOO MANY WORDS! Chase should have dropped the first "World", then it would have flowed better: "Champions, World F'ing Champions". Maybe inappropriate, but says it all. I think he'll be forever known as Chase "F'ing" Utley.

Puh-lease...I'd love to see someone say they never heard the f-bomb when they were probably "too young" to hear it...I thought it was a great display of emotion...LOVED IT!

idempotent - In my opinion cursewords are only harmful when they are used to attack another person, or to be racist, homophobic or sexist, or something harmful like that. So yes, I agree that in this case there was no harm done. He was celebrating a team win! Why can't people see things in their proper context rather than have a kneejerk judgemental reaction to a word?

I enjoyed it but immediately regretted that he let the f bomb fly. Too many kids around. Sorry Chase.

On the whole though, great day. Go Phils.

The fact that he'll eventually regret it shows how much of a class act he really is. I bet people get nervous speaking in front of 45,000 people . . . even if they have no problem hitting a baseball in front of them. He just let it fly, and it ended up being funny because he's the last person anyone expected to hear that from.

People are blowing this out of proportion and it was clearly in reference to the all-star game. Who cares? Right on Chase.

I'm surprised no one here has quoted Harry Kalas. "Chase Utley, you are the man!"
