Body found in Camden basement

Inquirer staff writer Dwight Ott reports:

Police are investigating the discovery of a man's decomposed body in a basement of an East Camden apartment building.

Utility workers checking on a reported gas leak discovered the remains in the building on the 2900 block of Westmont Avenue, officials said.

It is not yet clear how the man died, but investigators said foul play did not appear to be a factor.

Police believe the man may have been a squatter.
