Above the Merriam Theater, two trumpet players were blowing the “Charge!” stadium rouser above a crowd on Broad Street that is now 10 deep.

Kids were sitting on top of a SEPTA entrance as cops stood nearby. One family brought their own rented scaffold to get good parade views.
