A.C. Expressway could become cash-free toll road
The commission that runs the Atlantic City Expressway is studying making the toll road cash-free.
Inquirer staff report:
The operators of the Atlantic City Expressway are weighing the option of making the toll road cash-free.
Drivers would still have to pay the tolls, but they would be collected through either E-ZPass or monthly bills linked to license plates.
The second option would carry a 10-percent surcharge. Sixty-percent of motorists on the expressway already use E-ZPass.
The South Jersey Transportation Authority is awaiting the results of a study on the proposal, expected in the fall, before making a decision.
