Susan Finkelstein

Inquirer staff writer Sam Wood reports:

Some fans will do anything to go to the World Series.

Bensalem police said they arrested a Philadelphia woman Tuesday after she offered to perform various sex acts to an undercover officer in exchange for tickets.

According to police, Susan Finkelstein, 43, posted an ad on Craigslist that read:
"DESPERATE BLONDE NEEDS WS TIX (Philadelphia)
"Diehard Phillies fan—gorgeous tall buxom blonde— in desperate need of two World Series Tickets. Price negotiable--- I'm the creative type! Maybe we can help each other!"

An undercover officer responded to the ad, police said, and arrested Finkelstein after she made her offer.
Finkelstein, of the 900 block of St. Bernard’s Street, was charged with soliciting prostitution and related offenses. A court date has yet to be determined, police said.

The Associated Press reports:

Two new federal lawsuits have been filed against a Chester police officer who is already facing a $2.5 million police brutality lawsuit.

The lawsuits, filed in U.S. District Court in Philadelphia, describe two incidents where the plaintiffs claim Officer Joshua DeWees wrongly arrested them. Both suits claim the city and police department were aware of past complaints against DeWees but failed to discipline him.

DeWees is already facing a lawsuit filed last January by a 14-year-old girl, who claims he assaulted her
with a baton.

In court documents, the officer’s attorney denied any allegations of misconduct.

Inquirer staff report:

A ceremony to memorialize a slain Philadelphia police officer has been moved to the Fraternal Order of Police building, officials said today.

Officer Daniel Gleason, 39, was killed June 5, 1986, when he and his partner responded to reports of vandalism on West Sedgley Avenue in North Philadelphia.

As Gleason, the father of six children, questioned Nathan Long about the vandalism, Long drew a handgun and opened fire, striking Gleason three times in the face and three times in the arm and side.

The dedication of a plaque commemorating Gleason’s service, originally scheduled to take place on the 1300 block of Segeley Ave., will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the F.O.P. building at 1336 Spring Garden Street.

Inquirer Staff report:

Mayor Nutter this afternoon announced he was giving away two World Series tickets for each of the home games in an Internet drawing to be held Tuesday.

And these tix aren’t in the nose bleed seats, they’re in the mayor’s skybox at Citizens Bank Park.

“I want to give everyone an opportunity to watch the reigning World Champion Philadelphia win a second title,” Nutter said. “Send me an e-mail, and you just might end up cheering for the Phils alongside me in the Mayor’s Box.”

The mayor held a similar drawing last year that required entrants answer the question, “What is Shane Victorino’s favorite food." (The answer: Spam).

There is no question involved in this year’s drawing.

Nutter made the announcement at a City Hall rally for the Phillies that featured former Phils catcher Darren Daulton and the Phillie Phanatic.

To enter, send an e-mail to phillymayor@gmail.com with your name, phone number, and address by 5 p.m. Tuesday. Winners will be randomly selected and notified Wednesday, Nutter said.

City employees are ineligible to enter.

The Associated Press reports:

Will it be cheesesteaks or cheesecakes?

The U.S. senators representing the states of Pennsylvania and New York are betting local delicacies
in a friendly wager over the World Series.

If the Yankees win, Sens. Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand will get a supply of Philadelphia
cheesesteaks.

If the Philadelphia Phillies win, Sens. Arlen Specter and Robert Casey will get some cheesecakes
from Junior’s.

There are higher stakes to another food bet. If the Yankees lose, New York City’s Hunts Point Terminal Market will donate a truckload of local produce to a Philadelphia food bank. If the Phillies lose, the Philadelphia Regional Produce Market will send food to a New York City food bank.

Both teams begin their World Series showdown on Wednesday night in New York.

Reality dad Jon Gosselin says he has put $230,000 back into a joint account he shares
with his estranged wife Kate as the couple continues their bitter divorce battle, the AP reports.
Gosselin criticized his wife for not showing up Monday for a scheduled court hearing in Norristown. He also says she still has not explained how she spent $33,000 in joint funds.
Gosselin said a Montgomery County judge ordered the couple to continue arbitration on issues related to the split
and scheduled their next court date for late November.
The TLC reality show “Jon and Kate Plus Eight” has chronicled the couple’s lives while raising their eight children.
But the Gosselins filed for divorce in June after weeks of reports of marital discord and infidelities, which both
spouses denied.
