The return of Pennsylvania National Guard troops from deployments overseas continued early today with the arrival at Fort Dix of about 600 soldiers who served in Iraq.
After reunions with family members, the soldiers reported to barracks to catch some sleep before starting the demobilization process, a spokesman for the fort said.

A 51-year-old bicyclist was struck and killed by a pickup truck shortly before sunrise this morning on Route 322 in Logan Township.
The victim, Anthony Hoffman, lived nearby on Main Street in the township’s Bridgeport section and was often seen on his bicycle in the area, police said.

A Montgomery County woman has been convicted of stealing $78,000 from a youth soccer league, newspapers report this morning.
Maryann Grant, 37, of Red Hill, faces a maximum 7 to 14 years in prison when she is sentenced. No date was set for sentencing.

Police are looking for an intruder who raped a 14-year-old girl at knifepoint in her second-floor bedroom in North Philadelphia.
The assailant apparently gained entrance through a first floor rear window of the house on the 2200 block of N. 23rd St. about 5 a.m. Saturday, police said.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick is scheduled to appear this morning with Wayne Pacelle, President of the Humane Society of the United States, at a charter school in North Philadelphia.
The 11:30 a.m. appearance at the Nueva Esperanza Academy in Feltonville comes as the Eagles are launching a campaign to combat animal abuse in response to criticism over the team’s hiring of the convicted dogfighter.

Delaware State Police are advising motorists to avoid I-95 northbound near Marsh Road in Wilmington because of an accident investigation.
A 26-year-old Lancaster woman who had to be extricated from her car by mechanical means following the 8:15 a.m. crash had been airlifted to Christiana Hospital with what are described as life threatening injuries.
The Associated Press reports:
New Jersey environmental officials say it’s a bad idea to build a wind farm in the Delaware Bay because it could threaten migratory birds and other natural treasures in the area.
The Department of Environmental Protection spelled out its opposition in an Aug. 20 letter to Delsea Energy, a Toms River company that has proposed building 106 turbines in the bay.
