Inquirer staff writer Susan Snyder reports:

Russell J. DiGate, the dean of the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy since 2004, today was named provost of the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, the university announced.

DiGate had been serving as interim provost since former provost Gary Sayed left in September.

DiGate earned a doctorate from the University of Rochester and did postdoctoral research at Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. He worked at University of Maryland’s School of Pharmacy between 1997 and 2004 before heading the pharmacy college at the University of the Sciences.

“I look forward to my expanded role within University of the Sciences,” DiGate said in a prepared statement.
